Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common queries about our services and how we can assist you.
For general roller skating fun at The Rink Society, you’ll need roller skates (either quad or inline/rollerblades). We also strongly recommend safety gear, especially for beginners! This includes a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards. We have skates and protective gear available for rent, so you can try it out before you invest!
Here’s the basic equipment you’ll need:
Running shoes (no skates needed for this one!)
A hockey stick (plastic or composite, specifically for ball hockey – ice hockey sticks are usually too heavy)
Gloves (hockey gloves offer good protection, but even some lightweight athletic gloves are better than none)
Shin guards are highly recommended to protect against stray shots.
For goalies, full pads are essential. We have some sticks available for loan if you’re just starting, but bringing your own is always best for comfort and consistency.
Inline hockey is similar to ice hockey but on wheels! You’ll need:
Inline skates (rollerblades)
A hockey stick (suitable for inline hockey, typically composite or wood)
Helmet (mandatory for all players, especially with a full cage or visor for protection)
Gloves (hockey gloves)
Shin guards, elbow pads, shoulder pads, and hockey pants are all highly recommended for full protection.
Mouthguard is also a good idea.
For goalies, full inline hockey goalie gear is required. While we may have some basic loaner gear, having your own complete set is ideal for regular play.
Yes. All levels are welcome and we have programs and drop-in slots of all skill levels. Check our events page for when might be suitable for you or your child.
